Global Methodist Church (GMC) has commended Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas for restoring peace in state particularly in the ongoing disagreement between the GMC and United Methodist Church of Nigeria (UMCN)
Bishop of the GMC Nigeria, Rev. Dr John Pena, stated this on Thursday while applauding Kefas for restoring peace and upholding the rule of law in Taraba state.
Pena in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Jalingo, said the decisive intervention in demolishing the brazen false claims and deceitful narratives peddled by the two breakaway factions of the defunct UMCN have not only rescued the Church but have also doused down the existing anxiety among worshipers in the state.
The statement reads in parts: “Sir, your stand to debunked the assertion by Rev. Ande I. Emmanuel’s despicable and calculated lies in his Facebook post dated February 7, 2026 was quite commendable.
“Your quest to refused the fabrication claimed that the Jatutu Memorial Cathedral a sacred property of the GMC has been fixed as the venue for UMCN proposed reconciliation service on February 22, 2026 in direct defiance of the ironclad court order from the Jalingo Upper Area Court prohibiting access by both parties pending resolution of the suit in court shows your respect for the rule of law.
“Sir, as a father of the state and God fearing leader, your forthright exposure and utter dismantling of these vile, misleading distortions have not only vindicated the truth but have decisively safeguarded peace and order in Taraba State’s Christian community against such provocations” the statement highlighted.
The statement added that members of the GMC in Nigeria remains unchanged in their doctrines which is solely biblical as enshrined in the words of God.
“We recognize and applaud your decisive timely intervention, fatherly role into the issue concerning the GMC in Nigeria and the conflict entrepreneurs of the defunct UMCN.
“Beyond this matter, your strategic alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), positioning Taraba State within the broader framework of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reflects bold leadership and foresight aimed at accelerating growth, strengthening institutions, and unlocking greater opportunities for our people.
“The GMC in Nigeria stands firmly in support of your administration’s efforts to promote peace, development, and good governance, We remain committed to constructive corrections on any issue that relates to our denomination for the advancement of good leadership.
