A man identified as Buba Amadu Gudan Bunu of Jamali council ward in Binji LGA of Sokoto State has allegedly macheted his wife to death.
Bunu, who locals estimated his age to be around 30, was said to have fled the village after committing the crime.
Though, efforts to unearth what actually transpired that led to the brutality could not be ascertained at the time of filing the report.
Sources, however noted that it might be case of domestic violence taken too far.
Commenting on the ugly incident, a Gender Based Violence Surveillance Response Team member in the area who preferred anonymity, said the action is not only condemnable but abominable as well.
According to him, no degree of spousal provocation should warrant assault not to talk of killing your own wife.
Responding to the development, some of the locals said such bizarre incidences attracts wrath to the family of the perpetrator.
Efforts to get confirmation from the police at the time of filing this report proved unsuccessful. However, local said search is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrator.
