
Rescuers helping the victims at the collapsed market building that killed 3 persons on Monday in Assakio.

Nasarawa State Government has condoled with the families of those who died when a market building collapsed on a market day in the state.
Two women and a small child were killed by a collapsed building on Monday in Assakio, the headquarters of Lafia East Dev. Area in Lafia Local Government of Nasarawa State.
The state Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian Services and Non-Governmental Organization, Princess Magret Elayo, who was on the spot assessment, delivered state government’s condolence message to the traditional ruler and the families of the victims in Assakio.

The traditional ruler of the area, the Osakyo of Owusakyo, Mr Osula Inarigu, who received the Commissioner and her entourage, thanked the state government for identifying with them at this trying moment.
Those who died were, Ajima Adayi, Hajiya Rukaiya and Hafsat Ahmadu, while Hajara Ahmadu, is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
An eyewitness who confirmed the incident said two other persons were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The unfortunate incident which occurred on Monday afternoon, made those in the market ran helter skelter as it affected commercial activities in the market.
