Nigeria footballer, Paul Onuachu wins Belgian League’s Golden Boot

Paul Onuachu has won the 2021 Belgian Pro League top scorer award after scintillating performances last season.

The Nigerian striker who was ruled of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with injury was rewarded last night at the Belgian Golden Shoe award gala.

Paul Onuachu scored a total of 33 league goals in 38 league games to help Genk secure a Europa League spot place for the 2021/2022 season.

The 27-year-old striker scored 29 goals in 34 regular season games and then scored 4 goals in 4 championship playoff games.

Paul Onuachu becomes just the first ever Nigerian player to have won the award

Before his injury this season, Paul Onuachu has scored 12 league goals in 18 league games.

He also became just the third KRC Genk’s player in history after Branko Strupar and Wesley Sonck to win the Golden Shoe Award.

In 2021 Paul Onuachu finished top scorer, won the Belgian Cup, and was crowned professional footballer of the year. Now the Golden Shoe is added.
