Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Sen. Basheer Lado, has commended the Senate leadership and lawmakers for the prompt confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
Lado, in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, expressed satisfaction with the smooth and efficient screening process that led to the confirmation of the military chiefs during the Senate plenary session.
> “As the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, I facilitated this crucial interface to ensure a smooth and coordinated engagement between the Executive and the Legislature, in line with the President’s unwavering commitment to effective governance and national security,”
Lado stated.
He described the appointments of Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede (Chief of Defence Staff), Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu (Chief of Army Staff), AVM Sunday K. Aneke (Chief of Air Staff), and Rear Adm. Idi Abbas (Chief of Naval Staff) as a strategic move to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework and enhance synergy among the Armed Forces.
According to him, the Senate’s timely confirmation of the nominees reflects a deep sense of national responsibility and collaboration between both arms of government.
> “I extend my profound appreciation to the President of the Senate, the Senate Leadership, and Distinguished Senators for the prompt and thorough consideration that led to the confirmation of the new Service Chiefs,”
he said.
“Their commitment underscores the strong collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature in advancing the national interest and ensuring the security and stability of our dear nation.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Tinubu had, on Tuesday, forwarded a formal request to the Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs. The upper chamber confirmed the nominees the following day after due consideration.
