Tottenham Hotspur new coach, Roberto De Zerbi
Tottenham Hotspur have officially named Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach, with the Italian signing a contract running until June 2031.
“I am delighted to be joining this fantastic football club, which is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world,” De Zerbi said.
“In all my discussions with the Club’s leadership, their ambition for the future has been clear : to build a team capable of reaching great achievements, and to do that playing a style of football that excites and inspires our supporters. I am here because I believe in that ambition and have signed a long-term contract to give everything to deliver it.”
“Our short-term priority is to climb the Premier League table, which will be the complete focus until the final whistle of the last game of the season. I’m looking forward to getting out on the training pitch and working with these players to achieve that,” he added.
De Zerbi arrives following a notable spell at Olympique de Marseille, where he led the team to second place in Ligue 1 and Champions League qualification.
He left earlier this year by mutual consent after a difficult run of results, but his time in France showcased his ability to implement attractive, attacking football.
He steps into a Spurs squad that has struggled for
consistency this season, with injuries and key players often below their best.
His immediate task will be to steady results and get the team performing ahead of a demanding stretch of Premier League fixtures.
The appointment also marks a shift from Spurs’ recent pattern of short-term managerial changes.
The length of De Zerbi’s deal suggests the club is aiming for stability, giving him time to build a side capable of competing at the top in England and Europe
According to Fabrizio Romano, the signing is complete.
