President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his participation, alongside key cabinet members, in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Nigeria recorded a major diplomatic and economic milestone on the sidelines of the global summit with the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE.
The agreement is designed to strengthen economic ties between both countries by expanding bilateral trade and investment, promoting technology transfer, and deepening cooperation across strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining and renewable energy.
Speaking at the summit, President Tinubu disclosed plans to host a joint Nigeria–UAE INVESTOPIA forum in Lagos in February, describing the initiative as a platform to attract global investors and showcase Nigeria’s vast economic opportunities.
The President also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to climate action, announcing that the country is targeting the mobilisation of up to $30 billion annually in climate and green industrial financing.
He said the funds would support Nigeria’s ongoing energy transition reforms while accelerating efforts to expand electricity access across the country, in line with the administration’s sustainable development agenda.
