Tor Tiv meets with National Assembly members of Tiv extraction for peace, development

Barely 48 hours after the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Majesty, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse intervened in the crisis between Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, the Tor Tiv has again met with the National Assembly members of Tiv extraction to ensure peaceful coexistence.

At the meeting, the Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC ) assured Tiv nation and the entire Benue State of its determination to resolve amicably the unhealthy relationship between Governor Hyacinth Alia, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen George Akume and members of the National Assembly.

The Special Assistant to the Tor Tiv on Media and ICT. Freddie Adamgbe in a statement noted that Council presided over by its President who is the Tor Tiv HRM Orcivirigh Prof James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse while addressing members of the National Assembly of Tiv extraction led by Sen Titus Zam representing Benue North West in his palace, informed that it was a continuation of the recent meeting the Council held with Governor Alia and Sen Akume.

According to the statement, Tor Tiv expressed gratitude to the national assembly members for honoring the invitation of the Tiv monarchs to counsel and bless them to face the task of developing Tiv nation collectively.

Prof. Ayatse observed that he had listened to the issues they raised and Council would reconvene in the next few days to invite both parties to be part of the reconciliation meeting for final resolution.

The Chairman Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers cautioned them over further bickering and the need to restrain their followers from utterances that compound efforts to reunite and bring harmony, stressing that only through peace and harmony that they could effectively attract development to their respective constituencies.
