Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, declaring that no community will be left behind in Kaduna State as his government undertakes massive road construction across the state.
The governor disclosed that his administration is currently constructing 140 roads spanning 1,335 kilometres across all the 23 local government areas and the three senatorial districts of the state.
He stressed that all the projects were conceived and initiated by his government, while assuring that inherited road projects from previous administrations would also be completed.
Governor Uba Sani made the remarks on Saturday during the commissioning of the newly completed asphalt road linking Kuruntumawa and Durum towns in Makarfi Local Government Area.
He said all ongoing road projects were being executed to standard quality, noting that the Kuruntumawa–Durum road was conceived to address long-standing infrastructural challenges faced by the community.
Recalling his visit to Kuruntumawa in September last year for the groundbreaking ceremony, the governor said the completion of the project underscored his administration’s resolve to translate promises into tangible outcomes.
“For many years, this community endured the consequences of poor road infrastructure. Farmers struggled to move their produce to markets, traders faced rising costs, students travelled under unsafe conditions and families experienced delays in accessing healthcare,” he said.
“These were not distant statistics; they were personal stories I heard directly from the people during town hall meetings, consultations and honest conversations.”
According to him, the Kuruntumawa–Durum road is more than a physical structure, describing it as a lifeline that will ease access to markets, schools and healthcare facilities.
The governor reiterated that the project aligns with his campaign promise of rural transformation and inclusive governance, where development is equitably distributed between urban and rural communities.
He noted that Makarfi is among the 12 local government areas that had not benefited from a single kilometre of road construction in the last 12 years, adding that his administration is determined to reverse that trend.
Governor Uba Sani also revealed that the abandoned Makarfi General Hospital has been remodelled and equipped with modern facilities, assuring that it will be commissioned in the coming weeks.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, recalled that the people of Kuruntumawa had appealed for the construction of the road during the 2023 electioneering campaign.
He said he assured them that Senator Uba Sani would deliver the project if elected, adding that the commissioning of the road has fulfilled that promise.
Dr Meyere noted that successive administrations over the past 30 years had failed to construct the road, describing its completion as evidence that Governor Uba Sani is a leader who keeps his word and prioritises the welfare of rural communities.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Makarfi Local Government Area, Hon. Garba Muhammad Sabon Gari, commended the governor for the developmental strides recorded in the area, saying the people of Makarfi would always remember his administration.
He disclosed that the restoration of electricity to the local government was the first project executed by the governor, adding that the award and completion of the Kuruntumawa–Durum road were achieved within three months.
