Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has disbursed over ₦10 million in cash alongside food items and livestock to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving across local government areas under the Biu Zonal Office.
The intervention, carried out during the Governor’s recent working tour of Bayo, Kwayar Kusar, Shani, Hawul and Biu Local Government Areas, formed part of his “reward-at-sight” welfare support initiative for corps members deployed to Southern Borno.
In Biu Local Government Area, 128 corps members received ₦50,000 each, in addition to a 25kg bag of rice per corps member. The Governor also donated two large bulls to be shared among the corps members.
He further presented ₦200,000 to the NYSC Zonal Inspector, while staff of the zonal office received ₦100,000 each.
In Hawul Local Government Area, the Governor approved ₦3 million for corps members, with an additional ₦200,000 special award presented to a corps member from Lagos State.
Governor Zulum, who interacted directly with corps members stationed at strategic points during his project commissioning tour, commended them for their dedication and commitment to service in Borno State.
He assured the corps members that their security and welfare remain a top priority of his administration, noting that their contribution is vital to the state’s rebuilding and development efforts.
Reacting to the gesture, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mallam Nasir Bello, expressed profound appreciation to the Governor, describing his support as consistent and fatherly.
