African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a directive to members of its national coalition, urging them to formally cut ties with their previous political parties in order to be fully recognized as ADC members.
This was revealed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, following a caucus meeting held in Abuja.
“Though final order has been given to all members to resign membership of other political parties, the caucus was silent on the timeline,” Abdullahi stated.
He also announced that all presidential aspirants within the party have reached a consensus to back whoever emerges as the winner of the 2027 primary elections.
In response to ongoing speculation, Abdullahi clarified that the ADC has no affiliation or interest in the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), which is currently seeking registration as a political party.
He further noted that the National Working Committee will soon announce the schedule for primaries ahead of the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti States.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including ADC National Chairman David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Other attendees included former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal and former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi. Labour Party National Leader, Mr. Peter Obi, was absent but reportedly sent his apologies and pledged his support for the resolutions made during the meeting.
