All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has described President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day speech as a clear sign that Nigeria is moving from hardship to healing, declaring that the long-promised light at the end of the tunnel is now “within reach.”
Reacting to Tinubu’s broadcast on Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, said the president’s message was both “inspiring and reassuring,” adding that it offers renewed hope to millions of Nigerians.
> “President Tinubu’s address wasn’t just ceremonial—it was a sober reflection on our journey and a confident projection of where we are headed,” Oladejo said. “In less than three years, his administration has demonstrated uncommon courage and visionary leadership, cleaning up decades of decay, corruption, and inertia.”
*“Not just promises—but proof”*
Oladejo praised Tinubu for backing his message with evidence of tangible progress, citing major economic and infrastructure gains achieved under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
> “From removing the deeply entrenched fuel subsidy to unifying the foreign exchange market, Tinubu has freed trillions of naira for essential sectors like education, health, and infrastructure,” he said.
The APC spokesman also referenced the record-setting non-oil revenue, which surpassed ₦20 trillion by August 2025, as a major step toward a more self-sufficient economy.
He further noted the reduction of Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio, the stabilization of the naira, and the strengthening of the country’s foreign reserves, now at $42.03 billion, the highest since 2019.
*Milestones across key sectors*
According to Oladejo, Nigeria is also seeing progress in sectors that have long stagnated, including oil and gas, where increased production and domestic refining have marked the first turnaround in four decades.
He also pointed out Nigeria’s emergence as Africa’s leading exporter of aviation fuel.
Infrastructure, he said, is experiencing a “revolution,” citing landmark projects such as:
Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway
Kaduna-Kano rail line
Kano-Katsina-Maradi Standard Gauge Railway
Sokoto-Badagry Highway
> “These are not just projects on paper; they are visible milestones that reflect a focused and forward-thinking government,” Oladejo added.
*Restoring Security and National Confidence*
On the issue of security, the APC spokesperson credited the Tinubu administration with degrading terrorist strongholds and restoring calm to once-volatile regions, describing it as a “silent but steady transformation in national confidence and safety.”
He also highlighted progress in agriculture, with support systems for farmers, subsidies, and food security initiatives designed to address inflation and ensure affordable food supplies.
*Global validation and local impact*
Oladejo said Nigeria’s improving economic fundamentals had not gone unnoticed internationally, citing recent upgrades in the country’s sovereign credit outlook and a surge in capital market performance.
> “Investor confidence is returning because the world is seeing a Nigeria that is finally doing the hard work,” he said.
Echoing the president’s words, Oladejo emphasized that “the worst is over” is not just a slogan but a statement backed by data, reforms, and results.
> “President Tinubu’s words—that yesterday’s pains are giving way to relief—capture the resilience of Nigerians and the reality of our turnaround,” he said.
Looking ahead, he reaffirmed the party’s support for the president’s reform agenda and commitment to a future where:
> “Success is not measured in GDP alone, but in food on every table, reliable power in every home, quality education for every child, and safety in every neighborhood.”
