Mohammed Sadiq
ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi
Mohammed Alhassan Sadiq, a loyalist of Yakubu Dogara, ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, has resigned his position as Bauchi State Commissioner of Commerce and Industry to join him (Dogara) in the All Progressives Congress.
NATIONAL ACCORD had reported that Dogara who represents Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, recently dumped the People’s Democratic Party for the APC.
In a letter of resignation from the PDP which he addressed to the Chairman of the PDP Bogoro ‘C’ Ward, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi state dated July 24, 2020, Dogara said he was resigning his membership of the ruling party in the state because governor Bala Mohammed was making the same mistakes the former governor made which led to his defeat in the 2019 election in the state.
Dogara said his reasons for dumping the PDP were Governor Bala Mohammed’s unfulfillment of campaign promises, mismanagement of resources, lack of respect to elders and traditional rulers in the state.
Sadiq submitted his letter of resignation to the Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House.
His resignation from the Bauchi State Executive Council did not come to many as a surprise as it has been long awaited since the defection of his political boss, Yakubu Dogara to the APC.
Sadiq was appointed a Commissioner from Dass local government area, which is one of the LGAs in the Tafawa Balewa/Dass/Bogoro Federal Constituency which Dogara represents in the House of Representatives.
In a resignation letter he published on his verified Facebook page, late Wednesday night, he stated: “Alhamdullah, Masha Allah, Every beginning has an end. Today, the 19th day of August, 2020, I have honourably tendered my voluntary resignation as a Commissioner (Ministry of Commerce & Industries) and a Member of the State Executive Council in the Government of Bauchi State.
“It was a rare privilege and opportunity to have served my state in such an exalted position. I thank H.E the Executive Governor – Sen. Bala A. Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) for the wonderful opportunity accorded to me.
“In the same vein, I must appreciate my boss, H.E, the Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara for his usual support and the role he played in influencing same (his appointment).”
The former Commissioner added that: “I sincerely thank all my colleagues in the EXCO and the Ministry, whom we have worked with as a formidable team. I have enjoyed the Understanding of my family at such a trying time.”
“I beseech God to forgive all my wrongs and the general public/colleagues to pardon me.
“I urge you to help me, pray God to grant me success, contentment and peace of mind in my new endeavor. Thank you all and remain blessed.”
The Bauchi State government is yet to make any official pronouncement on the development.
