The General Officer Commanding, (GOC), 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Uwem Bassey on Tuesday flagged off free medical outreach in Sifawa village of Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The GOC, who was represented by the Garrison Commander 8 Division, Brigadier General Ralp Nnebeife, said the target for the medical outreach is to attend to 4000 people in the two local governments of Bodinga and Dange Shuni.
While stressing that the GOC, who also doubles as the Force Commander, Operation Hadarin Daji is poised towards restoring lasting peace to the states of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Katsina, Brig General Ralph added that, the Nigerian Army hss deployed non kinetic measures such as distribution of learning materials to schools.
“In line with the vision and mission of the Chef Of Army Staff (COAS), the General Officer Commanding, 8 Div, Major General Uwem Bassey is is poised to end all forms of insecurity and criminality in the north Western part of Nigeria.
“The was the reason why the GOC and his men are not going to relent until the region is secured”. He said.

Addressing dignitaries at the occasion, the 8 Div Commander, Medical and Hospital Services, Col Ijeoma Nwusu, said aside from the core mandate of the Nigeria Army, they are also concerned about the health of the populace.
This according to him, was the reason for a medical outreach as part of the activities to mark The Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The District Head and Sarkin Kudun Sifawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari Tambari said the free medical outreach will go along way in the memory of locals. .
He also appealed to the intending beneficiaries to conduct themselves in a manner that will guarantee orderliness.
On his part, The Director of Health Services in Bodinga LGA, Alhaji Bello Maigari Usman said they are grateful to the Nigerian Army for extending such gesture to their people for the second time.
“We are happy that even last year, this medical outreach was conducted here in Sifawa and a lot of people were healed of their health challenges. Indeed we appreciate the Garrison Commander and the GOC for renovating our hospital hence aiding us to have more doctors and operates 24 hours daily now”. Alhaji Maigari noted.
