Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, beat the Colombia Women’s National Basketball Team 70–37 in a FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying game on Wednesday.
The game was tight in the first half, but Nigeria started pulling away after halftime and kept the pressure on.
Colombia stayed in the fight early, but D’Tigress stepped up defensively in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 19–5 and putting the game out of reach.
Victoria Macaulay led the Nigerians with 13 points, while Nicole Enabosi posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Ifunanya Okoro added 10 points as well.
Colombia managed just eight points in the second half as Nigeria’s defence kept them off the boards and limited their chances.
By the final whistle, Nigeria were comfortably ahead, showing just how strong D’Tigress were on the night.
The win gives Nigeria a solid start in the qualifiers as the African champions continue their push for a spot at the Women’s World Cup.
