The Ogun State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment says it is committed to promote export trade as well as open up the state for more investments.

The Commissioner, Mrs Kikelomo Longe gave the assurance when members of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), paid a courtesy call to her office at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.

Longe hinted that the current administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun is working on various programmes which would improve the activities of shippers and exporters, noting that government is willing to support the growth of the Shippers association in the state.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Olu Aikulola stated that the agency will continue to carry out activities that would encourage more entrepreneurs venture into non-oil exports, also noting that it has been organising capacity building programmes to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the State.

Earlier, the Director, South West Zone, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Mr Glory Onojedo said the Council remained committed to the industrial drive of government, calling on the present administration to revisit the Truck Transit Park and the In-land Dry Port proposed to the past administration.

He added that if executed, the projects would reduce carnage on roads, decongest the ports and boost volume of exports from the state.
