Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday participated in the presidential primaries of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), casting his vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State.
Atiku, who shared the development on his official X account, described the nationwide exercise as a strong demonstration of democratic participation and a significant step toward rebuilding Nigeria.
“I joined other prospective voters of the African Democratic Congress in our party’s presidential primaries in casting my vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State. This is democracy at work,” he stated.
The former presidential candidate noted that the simultaneous conduct of the exercise across the country reflects the party’s commitment to democratic ideals and national renewal.
“The election taking place simultaneously in 8,809 Wards in Nigeria is a major step in our quest to recover our beloved country and set it on the path of prosperity,” Atiku added.
The ADC presidential primaries are being held across the federation amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party stakeholders expressing optimism about strengthening internal democracy and broadening political participation.
Political observers believe the exercise could shape emerging alliances and influence the evolving dynamics within the opposition camp as preparations for the next electoral cycle gather momentum.
