#Diplomacy: African leaders called out for staying mute on killing of Nigeria protestors

#EndSARS protest: Buhari consults with former leaders via video conferencing

Social media users have launched a campaign against African leaders who have failed to condemn the killing of unarmed protestors in Nigeria by soldiers.

According to them, African leaders are quick to comment on matters in the Western countries but fail to reciprocate that same energy when it comes to matters that affect the African continent.

The African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) are yet to make an official statement on the unrest in Nigeria as well as other parts of Africa including Congo.

The hashtag #Diplomacy and #ENDSARS have been trending on Twitter following the horrific footages of some protestors who have lost their lives whilst seeking an end to police brutality in Nigeria.

Below are some popular tweets on the happenings in Nigeria:

Exactly why I’m quiet when people are blasting him. I’m like 99% sure the AU and ECOWAS has noticed all this and are trying to help. It’s just that rules and diplomacy tins are slowing them down

@archer_kwakuReplying to @kwamena_iiAshok. We don鈥檛 really understand international relations. I do get people鈥檚 frustration. I鈥檓 also frustrated as well that he has not come out to say anything but then again we don鈥檛 know if him outrightlu saying anything has implications on Ghana as a whole.12:48 PM 路 Oct 21, 20206See Benny H. I am devastated and in shock by what is happening in Nigeria but even more by the position of some persons regarding the role of ECOWAS in the #endsars crisis. The ECOWAS Chair @NAkufoAddo not long ago presided over a delegation that expedited efforts and restored calm in Mali.1:03 PM 路 Oct 21, 2020

Nana P.@__prempehYou and I have nothing to lose Those leaders do and it will affect us. The diplomacy thing needs reforms because even one life lost is important.Their protocols are structured in such a way that things always have to escalate first .12:15 PM 路 Oct 21, 20203See Nana P.鈥檚 other Tweets

Obama performed below average as America’s president but his oral prowess, diplomacy and motivational skills made him popular to some extent. Buhari do not possess any of the above and that’s what is making things worse in this country today.

Our president must show leadership on this matter else he becomes complicit in the senseless killing of innocent and defenseless protesters @NAkufoAddo

Aye Boafowaa.@AyeBoafo6Nigeria is on a brinkmanship. But before Diplomacy will end for the President of Ghana, ECOWAS and AU to make Statements, let’s all remember what Pro. Mills told Nana Akuffo Addo in 2011 on the Ivorian Civil War. #EndSARS#MaintainNanaAddo#4MoreForNana

The silence of the presidency and Ecowas chair is unfortunate but not unexpected Showboy has courted Badboy since he took power the two can be considered allies Until recently When Ghana鈥檚 diplomatic relations with Nigeria turned frosty( locked shops, demolitions) Diplomacy..

Delali Phrank Awutey@delaliphrankNobody is saying the president should send in soldiers to overthrow Buhari. All we are asking for is just a tweet. @HillaryClinton sent a tweet n I don’t think she breached any diplomacy whatever.Too much technicality day spoil things.膿 silence is becoming disturbing. #EndSars
