ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi-
A fatal crash which occurred on Wednesday at Dungulbi village, Bauchi – Gombe federal highway, about 10kms away from Bauchi metropolis, has claimed the lives of a nursing mother and one other person.
NATIONAL ACCORD learnt that several people who sustained varying degrees of injuries were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for medical treatment.
It was also learnt that the accident involved a Toyota Hummer bus belonging to the National Tourism Development Commission (NTDC) which had a head on collision with a Sharon commercial bus conveying passengers to Gombe state.
Immediately after the crash, a source who did not want to be mentioned, said that officials of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and villagers participated in the rescue operation.
The source added that the NTDC staff were heading back to Abuja, after spending some days at the Yankari Game Reserve and Safari on official assignment when the accident happened.
He further stated that the Hummer bus, in the process of overtaking a heavy duty truck, had a head-on collision with an incoming Sharon commercial bus few minutes after loading passengers from Bauchi to Gombe.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the accident but however, said he could not give the full details of the casualties as of the time of filing this report.
