The Borno State Police Command has arrested and paraded 45 suspects involved in Boko Haram terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, rustling, fraud, theft and other crimes across the state.
Addressing newsmen in Maiduguri on Wednesday, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Aliyu Ndatsu said one Alhaji Goni Mallum Mutti of Muna Garage, Sheri Area off Maiduguri city was arrested by the Police on 11/03/20 for being a member of the Boko Haram terrorists group.
He added that the suspect confessed that he was a member of the Boko Haram terrorists and saddled with the responsibility of supplying essential commodities and other logistics to the sect.
Items recovered from him include N200,000 cash meant for purchase of foodstuff and other essential commodities.
The CP who was represented by the PPRO, DSP Edet Okon, listed other items as five packets of Maggi cubes, two sachets of Dangote salt, 10 packets of golden penny sugar, five packets of Dogon Sugar cube, one packet of BUA Macaroni, one solar panel and Saroda solar power kits as well as two rolls of IRS pasta spaghetti among others.
The Commissioner also said at about 2000 hours on 03/07/20 four suspects were arrested for kidnapping of one Umara Garba of Timova Village in Askira/Una LGA of the state but the suspects escaped while the kidnappers were asleep and reported the matter later which led to their arrest by the police subsequently.
The Police Boss added that Abba KaKa Shehu was arrested for criminal intimidation and attempt to extort one Alhaji Bukar Maka of N20 million. The suspect called and intimidated the aforementioned Alhaji that he was sent from Lagos to kidnap him.
Also, Yusuf Augustine and Rufus James were arrested by the police at Uba town if Askira/Yba LGA for criminal intimidation and attempt to extort one Nathan Janar of the sum of N1 million. They threatened him that they were going to kidnap him if payment was not made as demanded.
Other kidnapping suspects are Hammadu Abba, Isa Malam, Abdullahi Umar and Usman Manu.
While Ibrahim Garba, Adamu Ali, Abdulrahman Adamu, Musa Inusa, Hassan Wakil and Lawan Hamisu were arrested as armed robbery suspects by the police having conspired and robbed one Iliya Musa of N49,000 while armed with dangerous weapons between 03/07/20 and 15/07/20.
Other offences include robbing one Abdulkarim Umar of his Keke NAPEP tricycle while being transported to Modusuku in Biu LGA of the state where tyh suspect Musa Inusa repeatedly stabbed the rider before dispossessing him of his tricycle.
Hassan Wakil and Lawan Hamisu conspired with others at large to rob one Hassan Abdullahi of Bayo LGA of his motorcycle which he later sold to one Lawan Hamisu for the sum of N70,000. While Babangida Usman conspired with three others at large and robbed one Usman Hussain of his Techno mobile phone with N45,000 and cash of N17,000 on 15/07/20 along Damboa road.
Sani Ali and Waziri conspired and robbed one Hussaini Bukar of his Techno phone COPI Handset values at N17,000 in 03/06/20 while Umar Alhassan and Ali Mohammed were arrested by police operatives on 15/97/20 at about 2000 hours in an attempt to rob one Buba Mohammed ir gis Techno Handset
According to him, 2 suspects were arrested at Gubio for rustling 31 cattles belonging to one Goroma Muhammadu and the suspects claimed they found the cows wandering around Diffa Province axis of Niger Republic and Mohammed Ubrahim, Ubrahim Kabale and Mumuni Iggi were arrested by the police at Uba town if Askira)Uba LGA for being in possession of 8 rustled cows.
The suspects confessed they rustled the cows which were 19 in number from Cameroon Republic. That before their arrest, they have already sold 11 of the cows. While Zarami Mohammed and Musa Mohammed being notorious suspects for theft of domestic animals were arrested by police operatives for stealing 4 Rams valued at N230,000 from one Alhaji Modu Chul on 27/7/20 at Subdubura Cattle market.
He said following a tip off, Bunu Lawan and Abubakar Usman were arrested by the police for defrauding unsuspecting persons of the following items, one bag of rice and flour, ten crates of malt and two rams. They perpetrated the fraud by pretending to have transferred money into the bank accounts of the victims and then s ND them fake credit alerts.
Fourteen suspects were arrested for various thefts ranging from vehicle stealing of items worth N6 million at UMTH Trauma Center Maiduguri, burging into Borno State Geographic Information Service to cart away with 40 and 39 inches Plasma TV, one HP Desktop computer, a stabilizer, and q bag containing some documents which Investigation by the police led to th arrest of Mohammed Mustaoha and Hassan Umar.
The CP explained also that Ibrahim Emmanuel and Ali Mohammed wer arrested for breaking into shoos belonging to one Malam Mohammed Awwal and Mukhtar Mohammed at Galadima area if Maiduguri city and Carter away with goods valued at about N625,000 while Awwal Abduljalil was arrested for trespassing into a house at new GRA and stole four handsets.
