On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the Government Day Secondary School Ngoshe, which had been closed for over a decade, was officially been reestablished following the construction of a new school by the Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation under its AGILE project.
During the inauguration, the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Wakilbe while conveying the greetings of His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Executive Governor of Borno State,announced that the state government had already provided free uniforms, books, bags, stockings, and shoes for every student, along with ₦300,000 cash payment for sewing of their uniforms.

He also disclosed that ₦1 million take-off grant for the school has been released to the school.management while emphasizing that the school’s new facilities, which include computer labs, three science laboratories, water facilities, and solar-powered electricity were provided .

Speaking at the event, former Chairman of the Borno State Teaching Service Board, Prof. Suleman Bello, and a key figure in the Ngoshe community, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Zulum for making the project a reality after years of appeals from the community.
“We, the Ngoshe community of Gwoza LGA, are deeply grateful to Governor Zulum,” said Professor Suleman Bello.

Ibrahim Sarki, a Permanent Member of the Senior Secondary School Education Board, and Engr. Ibrahim Baba, the AGILE project coordinator, also addressed the gathering, urging the community to fully utilize the government’s investment on education.
The event’s highlights included the formal commissioning of the school and the distribution of “Back boards to School and kits to newly enrolled students among others
In another development , the Education Commissioner inspected Ngoshe Central Primary and Junior Day Secondary School, expressed disappointment at the high level of absenteeism in the schools among teachers and directed that disciplinary measures be enforced to address the issue.

The delegation then proceeded to Gwoza, where they paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gwoza, HRH Mohammed Shehu Idrisa Timta, and briefed him on the reopening of the Ngoshe school.
